My dad can’t make it to my last Dad’s Weekend here at Illinois…
…because he has been working 10 hrs a day/7 days a week lately. And he can’t even take a day off because soon he’s probably not going to have any work to do because of how slow construction can be.
My heart breaks for him. He loves being a carpenter but there’s just not a lot of things needing to be built lately.
Just another sacrifice my family has to make to send me and my brother to school. I mean, we don’t have scholarships or grants because we’re not technically needy enough. So we just have a ton of loans and scrimping to do.
So here’s to Dad’s Weekend without my dad because the university and the world sucks so much money out of our pockets that he can’t afford to take the day off.
